He married Emma May Romack on September 1, 1880 in Tipton County, IN.⁽¹⁰³⁾ (Emma May Romack is #1546.) Emma was born on May 2, 1862 in Hancock Co, IN.⁽¹⁰⁴⁾ Emma was the daughter of Robert Romack and Amanda E. Surname unk. Emma died on February 3, 1923 in Huntington Co, IN, at age 60.⁽¹⁰⁵⁾ At her death, she was survived by 27 grandchildren.

Her body was interred in the Lancaster Cemetery Section C1, Row 8, Lot 1 after Febraury 3, 1923 in Lancaster, Huntington Co, IN.⁽¹⁰⁶⁾ The gravestone reads: "BERRY; Emma May, 1862-1923; Samuel H., 1856-1943."

Emma was a member of Pleasant Grove Church in Howard County, IN before 1903.⁽¹⁰⁷⁾ She moved to Huntington County, IN about 1903.⁽¹⁰⁸⁾

Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Prairie Township, Tipton County, IN.⁽¹⁰⁹⁾ Samuel, as Emma May Romack's spouse, moved to Huntington County, IN about 1903.⁽¹¹⁰⁾ Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in Jefferson Tp, Huntington C, IN.⁽¹¹¹⁾ He resided in Huntington Co, IN on February 21, 1923.⁽¹¹²⁾ Samuel worked as a farmer in Lancaster, Huntington Co, IN on December 27, 1924.⁽¹¹³⁾ He resided in Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN on May 28, 1930.⁽¹¹⁴⁾ There is no record of an address for these individuals on this date in the Fort Wayne, Allen County, IN city directories for 1929-1932.
