John Henry² Clevenger (James R.¹) (#782) was born in Henry County, IN on November 18, 1849.⁽⁹⁹⁾ His birth was given as November 17, 1849.⁽¹⁰⁰⁾ John died on September 3, 1931 in Delaware County, IN, at age 81.⁽¹⁰¹⁾ He died at 6:45 AM at his home three miles North of Muncie on the Granville Road. His body was interred in the Beech Grove Cemetery Lot 235, Section B on September 5, 1931 in Muncie, Delaware County, IN.⁽¹⁰²⁾ The gravestone reads: "Father, John H. Clevenger, 1848-1931."

He married Nancy Jane Gibson on December 23, 1872 in Delaware County, IN. (Nancy Jane Gibson is #812.) Nancy was born on May 5, 1852 in IN.⁽¹⁰³⁾ Nancy was the daughter of Andrew Gibson and Rebecca Carmichael. Nancy died on February 7, 1929 in Muncie, Delaware County, IN, at age 76.⁽¹⁰⁴⁾ Her body was interred in the Beech Grove Cemetery Lot No. 235, Section B on February 10, 1929 in Muncie, Delaware County, IN.⁽¹⁰⁵⁾ A Sunday fee of $15 was provided to cover sunday services in the Old Chapel. The gravestone reads: "Mother, Nancy J. Clevenger, 1852-1929."

John was listed as a household member living with James R. The service was held at the Beech Grove Cemetery chapel.

John Henry Clevenger and Nancy Jane Gibson had the following children:

25 i. Anda Elsworth³ Clevenger⁽¹¹⁹⁾ (#841) was born in Delaware County, IN on August 29, 1875.⁽¹²⁰⁾ Anda died on June 26, 1877 in Delaware County, IN, at age 1.⁽¹²¹⁾ His body was interred in the Fairview Cemetery after June 26, 1877 in Delaware County, IN.⁽¹²²⁾

+ 26 ii. Carrie Jane Clevenger was born about 1877.

+ 27 iii. Hattie Pearl Clevenger was born on December 4, 1879.

+ 28 iv. Ethel Clevenger was born on March 1, 1882.

+ 29 v. Charles K. Clevenger was born on November 26, 1883.

+ 30 vi. Jessie Clevenger was born on November 14, 1885.

+ 31 vii. Chester Herman Clevenger was born on October 31, 1888.
