Samuel was born on December 7, 1850 in VA.⁽¹²⁵⁾ Samuel died on October 16, 1926 at age 75.⁽¹²⁶⁾ Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1880 Census in Delaware County, IN. Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1900 Census in Duck Creek Twp, Madison Co, IN.⁽¹²⁷⁾ Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1910 Census in Delaware County, IN.⁽¹²⁸⁾ Samuel was listed as the head of a family on the 1920 Census in Duck Creek Twp, Madison Co, IN.⁽¹²⁹⁾

Phoebe was listed as a household member living with Andrew Bowers on the 1870 Census in Monroe Township, Delaware County, IN.⁽¹³⁰⁾ She was listed as a beneficiary in Mary M. Acker's will on June 17, 1871 in Delaware County, IN. Phoebe received $658.17 from the estate of Mary Bowers. It was to cover the undivided 1/6 of eighty acres of land in Monroe Township, Delaware County, IN; Section 21, Range 10 East. A complete description of the land is not available in the court record and a cursury search of the record does not show a Mary Bowers as owning land in that section. Mary (Acker) Clevenger who married Andrew Bowers in 1866 and was living with him along with John and Phoebe Clevenger in the 1870 census owned 80 acres of land in the W1/2 of the Nw1/4 of Section 20 of Township 19N, Range 10 East. This land is across a county road from that owned by Andrew Bowers. There may have been a misprint in the court record.
