Archibald died on October 25, 1902 in Tipton County, IN, at age 92.⁽³⁰⁴⁾ His body was interred in the Archibald Small Cemetery Row 6, Lot 5 after October 25, 1902 in Ekin, Tipton Co, IN.⁽³⁰⁵⁾ The gravestone reads: "Archibald Small, born in Bath Co., Ky., Dec. 8, 1809, d. Oct 25, 1902, aged 92y, 10m 17d. First settler in Jefferson Township. Entered this farm 1834 where he resided until death. The father of 20 children lived to see 5th generation. Member of Christian Church 62 years. Gone but not forgotten."

He married twice. He married Susanna Ogle on June 23, 1831 in Marion County, IN.⁽³⁰⁶⁾ Susanna was born on March 17, 1815 in Johnson County, IN.⁽³⁰⁷⁾ Susanna⁽³⁰⁸⁾ was the daughter of John Ogle and Mary Polly Tilford. Susanna died on February 23, 1840 in Jefferson Township, Tipton County, IN, at age 24.⁽³⁰⁹⁾ Her death was the first in this township.

Her body was interred in the Archibald Small Cemetery Row 6, Lot 5 after February 23, 1840 in Ekin, Tipton Co, IN.⁽³¹⁰⁾ This cemetery is located on a small knoll on the original farm of Archibald Small.
