Jesse W.⁴ Small (John A.³, Jesse², George¹) was born in Tipton County, IN on March 20, 1879.⁽⁴⁰⁹⁶⁾ Jesse died on August 6, 1921 in Shelby County, IN, at age 42.⁽⁴⁰⁹⁷⁾ He had driven to Waldron in Shelby County, IN on an errand and was returning when his car was struck at a railroad crossing by a fast train and he was killed instantly. His body was interred in the East Union Cemetery Section 2, Row 4, Lot 2 on August 9, 1921 in East Union, Hamilton Co, IN.⁽⁴⁰⁹⁸⁾ The gravestone reads: "Jesse W. Small, 1879-1921."
