He married Doris Lavon Marquand in June 1950 in Kokomo, Howard County, IN. Doris was born on May 23, 1933 in Kokomo, Howard County, IN. Doris is the daughter of Howard Thosmas Marquand and Sylvia Lucille Tilley. When Doris was age 18 and Thomas Vernon Small was age 22 they became the parents of Cynthia Lynn Small on July 10, 1951. When Doris was age 20 and Thomas Vernon Small was age 25 they became the parents of Tamara Leigh Small on March 12, 1954.

When Thomas was age 22 and Doris Lavon Marquand was age 18 they became the parents of Cynthia Lynn Small on July 10, 1951. When Thomas was age 25 and Doris Lavon Marquand was age 20 they became the parents of Tamara Leigh Small on March 12, 1954.
